A BisectHosting alternative
BisectHosting is a big name for modded Minecraft. If you'd like to start on a free server, or want flat monthly prices for a friend group, here's how Jump compares.
What BisectHosting is known for
Bisect sells paid servers only, with many locations, one-click installs from a very large modpack library and round-the-clock support. It has a strong reputation with modded players.
Its plans and prices change, so check BisectHosting's own site for current details.
What you get with Jump
- A free server first. 2 GB, no card, Java or Bedrock. It sleeps after 15 minutes alone and wakes when someone joins.
- Paid plans from $4.99 a month (2 to 8 GB), always on, on AMD Ryzen 9 7950X machines with NVMe storage. Your first week is from $0.99.
- One-click modpacks from CurseForge and Modrinth on paid plans, with a warning if a pack needs more memory than your plan.
- Hourly backups on every paid plan: one from the last hour, one about a day old and one about a week old.
- Hopper, a panel assistant that explains crashes and suggests fixes, which only change your server after you approve them.
When Bisect may be the better choice
Jump runs servers in US East and US West and is a smaller team. If your players are outside North America, you need a very large plan for a big modpack network, or you want round-the-clock support, an established host like Bisect covers more ground.
Switching over
- Download your server files from Bisect over SFTP: the world folders,
mods/orplugins/, and configs. - Create a server on Jump with the same software and version, on a plan with enough memory.
- Stop it and upload the files over SFTP. A modpack server can instead reinstall the same pack from Modpacks and then upload just the world.
- Start it and join.
