An Apex Hosting alternative

Apex Hosting is a popular paid host with a lot of features. If you want to start without paying, or just need a simpler server for friends, here's how Jump compares.

Comparison

What Apex is known for

Apex sells paid Minecraft servers with many locations, one-click modpacks and round-the-clock support. Plans are priced by memory, and there's no free tier, so you pay before you play.

Prices and features change, so check Apex Hosting's own site for current details.

What you get with Jump

  • A free server first. 2 GB, no card, Java or Bedrock. It sleeps after 15 minutes alone and wakes when someone joins.
  • Paid plans from $4.99 a month (2 to 8 GB), always on, with automatic hourly backups: one from the last hour, one about a day old and one about a week old.
  • Modpacks in one click from CurseForge and Modrinth, with a warning if a pack needs more memory than your plan.
  • Hopper, a panel assistant that can explain errors and suggest fixes, which only change your server after you approve them.
  • Java and Bedrock together through Geyser, already set up on Bedrock servers.

When Apex might be the better choice

Jump runs servers in the US (US East and US West) and is a smaller team. If you need servers outside North America, phone support or very large plans for a big network, an established host like Apex covers more ground.

Switching over

  1. Download your server files from Apex over FTP or SFTP: the world folders, plugins/ or mods/, and configs.
  2. Create a server on Jump with the same software and version, on a plan with enough memory.
  3. Stop it and upload the files over SFTP. Modpack servers can instead reinstall the same pack from Modpacks and then upload just the world.
  4. Start it and join.

Questions

Can I get a refund?

Yes. A full refund within 7 days of your first payment, no questions; after that, prorated when you downgrade.

Can friends help run the server?

Yes. Invite co-owners from Settings → Access; they get the full panel for that server only.

Is Jump affiliated with Apex Hosting?

No. Apex Hosting is a separate company; this page compares the two from Jump's side.
